Fenwick & West Represents Cisco in $2.9B Acquisition of Starent

Fenwick & West LLP represented its client Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO) in its recently announced acquisition of Starent Networks, Corp. (NASDAQ: STAR), a leading supplier of IP-based mobile infrastructure solutions targeting mobile and converged carriers, based in Tewksbury, MA. Cisco will pay $35 per share in cash in exchange for each share of Starent Networks, for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $2.9 billion.

The boards of directors of both companies have approved the acquisition, which is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory reviews. The transaction is expected to close during the first half of calendar year 2010.
