By nature, AI systems consume vast amounts of data, which often includes personal and sensitive information. What happens when models memorize training data? When automated profiling violates user expectations? When secondary uses conflict with purpose limitation? While there are various data privacy laws around the United States, regulation currently struggles to address the unique challenges AI presents around consent, disclosure, deletion rights, and data minimization.
