Amanda Rose and Chelsea Anderson Talk Biotech IPO Demand with Axios Pro
Biotech IPOs could be in for strong post-Labor Day demand from specialist and generalist investors alike, Fenwick's Amanda Rose and Chelsea Anderson recently told Axios Pro in a featured Q&A interview.
"The IPO market was so closed last year that there was a large backlog. Some really high quality companies that are pretty far along in their developmental stages are now having the opportunity to get out," Anderson said.
While strong, the market is still somewhat selective, Rose explained.
"We're not seeing companies going public on preclinical data or a platform promise," she said. "Strong clinical data, a clear regulatory pathway, a larger market, and a clear line of sight to commercialization are key factors that the investors are looking for right now"
They also discussed the emerging insider-trading threat that prediction market platforms are creating for biotechs.
"It's an evolving area," Anderson said. "It's not directly covered by securities laws, but companies are developing policies to prohibit their employees from engaging in that kind of behavior."
