Digital Asset Adoption Will March on Regardless of Clarity Act, Christopher Crawford tells CoinDesk

Wall Street will increasingly embrace digital assets, even if the hotly anticipated Digital Asset Market Clarity Act isn’t swiftly adopted, Fenwick corporate partner Christopher Crawford told CoinDesk shortly before a key Senate vote on the bill.

The act would provide a regulatory framework for digital assets that the industry has lacked. And while the market-structure bill didn’t clear a key legislative hurdle on Tuesday, that’s just a speedbump for the industry.

“It would be hugely helpful and beneficial to Wall Street adoption of the technology, but it is by no means a necessary predicate,” Crawford told CoinDesk, adding that Wall “catches up.”

Despite the legislation stalling, the administration has made crypto a focus. The SEC, today, issued an “innovation exemption” to facilitate the trading of tokenized exchange-listed stock.
