NEW YORK & WASHINGTON, D.C. (April, 2026) – Fenwick today announced that Krishnan (KP) Padmanabhan and Scott Border have joined the firm as partners based in the New York and Washington, D.C. offices, respectively.
“Intellectual property sits at the center of our clients’ most significant legal and commercial priorities,” said Richard Dickson, chair of Fenwick. “Strengthening and diversifying our national patent litigation platform is a deliberate step in ensuring we continue supporting clients with the depth and perspective these matters demand.”
KP is a first chair trial lawyer widely regarded for his work handling complex patent disputes across a broad range of technologies, including telecommunications, networking, semiconductors, and medical devices. He represents leading technology companies in major disputes in courts around the country and draws on prior experience as an engineer focused on semiconductor technology to navigate highly technical disputes. Prior to joining Fenwick, he served as co‑chair of a technology, media, and telecommunications industry group and the managing partner of the New York office of an international law firm.
“Fenwick brings a level of deep technical experience and courtroom prowess that’s hard to replicate,” KP said. “The opportunity to work alongside lawyers who are not only leaders in the field, but also deeply collaborative, made this a natural fit.”
Border focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, representing clients across high-technology industries, including artificial intelligence, software, consumer electronics, and wireless communications. He has extensive experience in proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Border previously served as a U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Officer where he worked as an electrical engineering officer and navigator before entering the practice of law.
“Fenwick’s patent litigation team is built for the emerging issues our clients regularly face,” said Jedediah Wakefield, chair of Fenwick’s litigation practice. “KP and Scott add technical depth and experience that strengthen how we tackle novel, high‑stakes challenges at the intersection of law and technology.”
KP and Border are joined by associates Devin Garrity, Daniel Marzagalli, and Christopher Gresalfi. Together, the team further deepens Fenwick’s patent litigation work across telecommunications, hardware, software, and semiconductors.
“What stood out to me is the strength of the entire team and the shared commitment to developing creative solutions to disputes,” Border added. “There is a dynamic and energizing culture at Fenwick, and I look forward to getting started.”
