Mountain View, CA (September 15, 2016)– Fenwick & West today announced that Amy Manning has joined the firm as its inaugural OnRamp Fellow.
Manning joins Fenwick’s Technology Transactions practice through the firm’s participation in the OnRamp Fellowship, a leading-edge program that provides women lawyers re-entering the legal profession with an opportunity to update their skills and legal contacts through one-year, paid positions with top law firms.
“We believe that a diverse workforce helps us serve our clients better and promotes a more creative and collaborative environment in which all of us can thrive,” said managing partner Kate Fritz. “We are excited to welcome Amy to the team—she has the skills and innovative approach Fenwick looks for.”
Manning focuses her practice on representing life sciences and technology companies in a broad range of commercial transactions involving intellectual property. She has over 10 years of experience advising early stage to Fortune 100 companies, including as a partner at an AmLaw 100 firm, where she concentrated her practice on counseling clients on intellectual property strategies and commercialization, patent opinions and portfolio management, and providing advice on legal and regulatory issues associated with drug and medical device development. Manning received her J.D. from Georgetown University and B.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
“With a longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion, Fenwick continues to lead by partnering with the Fellowship to forge a path for women lawyers who take a break and want to return,” said OnRamp Fellowship founder Caren Ulrich Stacy. “Thanks to the wonderful support from firms like Fenwick, we’ve seen this initiative positively impact women, top organizations and the legal and financial services professions.”
Women lawyers who are selected to participate in the Fellowship are matched with a partner advisor at the firm and with an external career counselor. They also gain access to unlimited online continuing legal education through Practising Law Institute and a variety of training from experts in negotiations, oral advocacy, social media, technology, project management and business development.
For over four decades, Fenwick has actively promoted an open and inclusive work environment and committed significant resources toward improving the firm’s diversity efforts at every level. Fenwick ranks annually on The American Lawyer’s list of the 10 most diverse U.S. law firms. Additionally, in 2016, Law360 again ranked the firm among the top 10 best law firms for minority attorneys and among the top 10 for Asian-American attorneys.
