Fenwick’s Julia Ushakova-Stein Honored for Contributions to International Tax Community

The Women of IFA Network (WIN) honored Fenwick tax lawyer Julia Ushakova-Stein in their new book Recognising 100 Years of Women in Tax. The book highlights women past and present who have contributed to and shaped the future of women working in international tax.

The book notes that Ushakova-Stein is “Recognised for her contribution to international tax in private practice in the field of international tax planning, mergers and acquisitions and transfer pricing and for her management of tax controversy matters.”

Ushakova-Stein regularly advises major companies from a diverse set of industries and geographic areas in highly sophisticated domestic and international tax planning that often involve many billions of dollars.

She also teaches international tax in the master’s program at San Jose State University and regularly speaks at major tax conferences for professional tax groups. Additionally, she regularly authors articles on international tax topics.

Frequently honored for the excellence of her work, Julia was named one of the top 40 lawyers under 40 in the United States by the American Bar Association in 2018 and was the only person to win Euromoney’s Women in Business Law’s Americas Rising Star in Tax award in 2017. She appears in Euromoney’s 2019, 2018 and 2017 Expert Guides: Rising Stars in the Tax category and International Tax Review’s 2017 Women in Tax Leaders. Julia was also recognized by California Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2019 and 2018, and was shortlisted in the Best in Tax and Tax Disputes category for Euromoney’s 2019 and 2018 Americas Rising Star awards.
