Mountain View, Calif. (June 19, 2014)– Fenwick & West announced today that its Pro Bono and Mentoring programs were recognized as being the best in the legal sector by Euromoney Legal Media Group, at its 2014 Americas Women in Business Law Awards. In addition, Jennifer Fuller, a partner in the firm’s Tax Group, was recognized as “Best in Tax Dispute Resolution.” The firm was shortlisted in seven categories for this year’s awards.
Fenwick’s nationally recognized pro bono program works with a variety of local and national organizations, and efforts include fellowships, child advocacy, civil rights, impact litigation, Appellate Project, Street Law, AIDS Project, death penalty cases, corporate, intellectual property, tax and political asylum/immigration. Over the past five years, Fenwick attorneys and staff have logged nearly 50,000 pro bono hours valued at approximately $20 million in legal fees.
Fenwick’s mentoring programs centers on integrating new lawyers into the firm quickly and successfully, as well as providing support and career guidance for mid-level and senior associates, focusing on areas including practice group specialization and client development.
“We are very proud of this recognition, as it reinforces our commitment to the development of women professionally, both within the firm and in the community,” said Kate Fritz, Fenwick’s managing partner. “We look forward to continuing to break new ground and implement new ideas and programs that further these goals.”
The support and professional development of women in law is a core value of the Fenwick firm culture. This commitment is embodied in the firm’s recruiting and retention efforts, mentoring programs, professional development programs and diversity initiatives, and in the resources and benefits made available to women by the firm.
