Brandon advises on a broad variety of intellectual property matters, with a focus on commercial matters and technology transactions for clients in the technology, digital media, fintech and blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the games and interactive entertainment industries. He has experience with all forms of IP and commercial transactions, including acquisitions, mergers, and financings, strategic partnerships, and licensing arrangements. Brandon also counsels clients on the legal issues around open source software and licensing as well as legal issues that arise when running sweepstakes, contests and promotions.

In particular, Brandon’s open source experience includes:

• Assisting with the preparation of an open source policy, including providing reference materials and license analyses for particular licenses as a general resource for in-house teams
• Advising on the release of software or in-house developed code as open source projects, and the appropriate licensing model (and open source license)
• Advising on contributions to existing open source projects
• Analyzing open source usage and identifying potential copyleft risks and problematic licenses

During law school, Brandon served as co-president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and advised a variety of corporate clients as part of the University of Chicago Corporate Lab. He also served as a facilitator for the Kapnick Leadership & Development Initiative.
