Hugo is a patent agent in Fenwick’s intellectual property and life sciences groups. Hugo assists clients with managing patent portfolios, patent application drafting and prosecution, both in the U.S. and internationally, and with intellectual property due diligence and freedom-to-operate analyses.
Prior to joining Fenwick, Hugo was a patent agent in the life sciences group at a leading, global intellectual property law firm where he focused on patent portfolio management, drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications, and conducting due diligence, freedom-to-operate studies, and patent landscape analysis.
Prior to working in a law firm, Hugo worked in-house at two large generic pharmaceutical companies where he focused on pre-litigation activities in support of new drug application (ANDA) filings and Hatch-Waxman litigation matters. Hugo began his career as a research chemist in the development and manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients at Teva Pharmaceutical Industries API business unit.
