Kelly concentrates her practice on patent prosecution, drafting, portfolio management, landscape analysis and due diligence matters for clients in the life sciences industries. Kelly also counsels clients on patent lifecycle management and licensing matters associated with portfolio development.
Kelly has experience representing life sciences clients in a variety of technical fields including: biotechnology, therapeutics, molecular biology tools, cell-based devices, sequencing, clean technology, gene therapy, diagnostics and personalized medicine.
Prior to joining Fenwick, Kelly was a patent agent in the patents and innovations counseling practice at a leading law firm in the Bay Area. Since 2012, Kelly has helped startup and early-stage life sciences companies develop and manage their intellectual property portfolios to meet their business goals.
Kelly has significant technical experience in the fields of cellular biology, genetics, molecular biology and cancer. Prior to her legal career, Kelly was postdoctoral fellow in cancer biology and genetics at the University of California, San Francisco, and a cancer researcher in the research and development group at Genomic Health, a cancer diagnostic company. Kelly’s research has resulted in her being named as the primary author and co-author of several peer-reviewed scientific journals.
