Jae Won Song has a multi-disciplinary intellectual property practice, including strategic intellectual property counseling, patent prosecution, and patent litigation, representing clients primarily in the electronics and computer industry. He provides strategic patent counseling and has prosecuted a number of U.S. and foreign patents in a wide range of technology areas, including virtual reality (VR), blockchain technology, healthcare IT, cloud computing, IOT (Internet of Things), computer software, Internet technology, storage devices, analog, RF, and power electronics, LCD and OLED display devices, solar technology, microprocessors, semiconductors, memory devices and interfaces, high speed communication interfaces, wireless communication, virtual machines, EDA, and optics.
Jae has also litigated patent and trade secret cases in various courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission in a variety of technology areas, including wireless communication, power electronics, ASIC design, computer software, database applications, smartphones, organic chemistry and biometric scanners. Jae also has substantial experience in technology transactions, intellectual property audits and due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, and initial public offerings, and in evaluating patents for patent licensing pools and technology standards.
Jae was recognized among California’s leading patent prosecutors by IAM Patent 1000 in both 2015 and 2016. He was also recognized as a Rising Star in the areas of Intellectual Property and Intellectual Property Litigation by Northern California Super Lawyers in 2010 and 2011.
