Data Protection and Security

Hosted By: The Seminar Group

The consumer privacy and data security legal landscape is rapidly evolving, presenting companies complex regulatory, enforcement and public relations challenges that often cross international borders. Recent revelations regarding the scope of government surveillance and data mining efforts has further complicated the role of the privacy professional and counselor to companies that store consumer data. This seminar will provide an overview of the major legal and regulatory data privacy and security issues confronting companies large and small.

Attendees will hear from an experienced panel of data security experts, privacy practitioners and law enforcement officials, including the California Attorney General’s Office. Attendees will also hear from current and former attorneys from U.S. law enforcement and national security roles on the timely topic of responding to government data requests.

Finally, California attorneys will receive one hour of ethics credit for an informative presentation on the ethical issues raised by attorneys’ use of cloud services in their practice.
