Lateral Anna Uhls and Fenwick's growing congressional investigations team are making waves on the D.C. political circuit.
Politico featured the moves in its D.C. Playbook and Influence newsletters; required reading in the halls of power.
Uhls, who served five years as an FBI counsel handling congressional oversight and investigations, is teaming up with fellow Bureau alum and Fenwick partner Jon Lenzner to meet our tech and life sciences clients' growing demand for guidance in their most critical moments.
“Because Congress’ lawmaking capacity right now is trained by polarization, procedural bottlenecks and weaker committee capacity, it is more and more leaning into oversight as a more feasible and politically advantageous way to act on issues,” Uhls told Playbook on Tuesday. “This level of scrutiny is accelerating at a faster rate; more subpoenas, hearings, large document requests and within this there’s a lot of interest in tech on both sides of the aisle, though sometimes different issues.”
Uhls started her career covering breaking news, politics, and crime for The Washington Post before pivoting to law. Before joining the FBI, she served as U.S. regulatory counsel to Uber.
“I had the pleasure of working with Anna at the FBI when it was coming under intense scrutiny from Congress, the Inspector General, the media, whistleblowers and civil litigants, and I saw firsthand her ability to calmly navigate the entire battlefield,” Lenzner was quoted in Politico.
