The Daily Journal has recognized Fenwick corporate partner Dawn Belt as one of the Top Women Lawyers of 2018. This annual list honors the most outstanding women lawyers in California.
The Daily Journal noted that Belt advises some of the world’s most innovative technology companies – from established industry leaders to rising startups – on business strategy, VC financing, M&A, public offerings, corporate governance and SEC compliance.
“My practice is really about taking early-tech companies, growing them and getting them to a good exit,” Belt told the Daily Journal.
The Daily Journal mentioned that over the past two years, Belt helped represent data storage provider Nimble Storage in its $1.2 billion acquisition by Hewlett Packard Enterprise, as well as handling convertible senior note offerings for GoPro and ServiceNow, and financings for Bill.com and BuzzFeed.
Belt told the Daily Journal that working on more complicated transactions has allowed her to continue developing her craft, “My role has changed from a very junior person at the firm to leading big transactions now. What I really love about this job is I learn something new every day.”
She talked about how late-stage private company financings are a large portion of her practice, and that there are always new, complex issues to think about, noting “It’s a highly regulated space. All of the investors are big banks.”
Belt was also named one of The Recorder’s Women Leaders in Tech Law for 2017, and recognized on the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 2017 Women of Influence list, which honored Silicon Valley's 100 most influential women.
