Fenwick's Matthew Rossiter Named Life Sciences Venture Capital Attorney of the Year

Fenwick corporate partner Matthew Rossiter was named Venture Capital Attorney of the Year at the 2021 LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards, held on September 22. These annual awards recognize lawyers from across the United States and Canada for outstanding work in the life sciences industry.

Rossiter, who co-leads Fenwick’s life sciences practice, represents fast-growing innovative businesses, ranging from entrepreneurs with a vision to established later-stage companies, on general corporate and securities, transactional and IP matters. He also represents leading venture capital firms in their investments. Clients span a broad range of biopharmaceutical technologies and indications, genomic and medical device technologies, digital health and technology-enabled healthcare businesses.

In the past five years, Rossiter has advised on more than 150 private financings, including seed, venture and other institutional rounds, accounting for over $5 billion in capital raised.

Rossiter has recently guided leading life sciences companies through significant financings, including: Sonoma Biotherapeutics, an immune tolerance company, in its oversubscribed $265 million Series B financing; Apeel, a food system biomaterials innovation company, in its $250 million Series E financing; Lyra Health, a provider of comprehensive mental health care benefits for employers, in its Series E and Series F rounds financing, which raised a total of $385 million; SciNeuro Pharmaceuticals, neuromedicine company, in its $100 million Series A financing; and Metagenomi, a gene-editing company, in its $65 million Series A financing round.

He recently advised DICE Therapeutics (Nasdaq: DICE), in its $204 million IPO, as well as its $140 million Series C and Series C-1 rounds of financing, and last year advised Arcutis Biotherapeutics in its $183 million offering and $95 million Series C financing.

In addition to his Venture Capital Attorney of the Year honor, Rossiter has been highlighted by The Legal 500 among the nation’s leading technology transactions lawyers, and recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in Corporate Law.
