Fenwick litigation partner Saina Shamilov and tax partner Julia Ushakova-Stein have been recognized by The Recorder in its California Legal Awards for their outstanding achievements as leaders in technology, innovation, and the legal profession as a whole. The annual awards honor women in law whose accomplishments are seen as instrumental to the state’s thriving technology sector.
Saina was recognized in the Women Leaders in Tech Law category, which celebrates women lawyers who handle game-changing, law-making cases in the technology sector. As a trial lawyer and a top-ranked practitioner representing the world’s leading tech companies in high-stakes patent litigation disputes, she regularly works with companies who are moving the needle in tech law. Earlier this year, Patexia recognized Saina among the top 10 best performing patent litigators in the country, The Daily Journal honored her as one of 2021’s Top Women Lawyers, and the PTAB Bar Association named her to its Top 50 Women in PTAB Trials list.
Julia was honored in the Lawyers on the Fast Track category, which recognizes California’s next generation of legal leaders under the age of 40. She advises some of the largest tech companies on U.S. tax planning and tax controversy matters, with an emphasis on international tax planning (inbound and outbound), mergers and acquisitions, and transfer pricing. Julia has received numerous recognitions for her work this past year. International Tax Review honored Julia as the Tax Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year in 2021 named her as one of the finalists in the North America Tax Litigation and Disputes Practice Leader of the Year category in 2022, and Euromoney recognized her among the finalists in the in the Tax Lawyer of the Year category at its 2022 Americas Women in Business Law awards.
