Variety Names Five Fenwick Partners Among Most Influential in Entertainment

In its 2022 “Legal Impact Report,” Variety honored five Fenwick partners among the most influential transactional lawyers in the entertainment industry. The team was specifically recognized for their tech-native experience that is increasingly essential as technology continues to massively disrupt the entertainment and media industries.

Fenwick’s Digital Media and Entertainment team’s co-leaders Jennifer Stanley, Vejay Lalla and Andrew Klungness; private investment funds chair Byron Dailey; and corporate partner Jordan Roberts were recognized in the report for their strategic counsel to the entertainment and gaming world representing high growth venture backed businesses, public companies and numerous celebrities, athletes and influencers in their portfolio of investments, collaborations, endorsement activities and consumer offerings. Variety also covered the team’s work in helping clients navigate the new creator economy and the ways in which consumer behavior and experiences are evolving via the rapid adoption of technology such as NFTs, AR/VR and other nascent technologies.

“It’s important to balance the decentralized nature of the blockchain or NFT project and the artist’s interest in retaining its rights and its name and image, because those two things are not always 100% aligned,” Lalla told Variety in an interview for the group profile on Stanley, Lalla, Klungness and Dailey.

Roberts was featured in the separate “Up Next” section of the feature, which recognizes lawyers aged 35 and under for their exceptional accomplishments in entertainment. Variety commented on Roberts’ notable work with Mythical Games, Russell Westbrook Enterprises and Chubbies in his profile.

As one of the leading venture-focused law firms in the entertainment space, Fenwick has advised advertising, media and gaming companies since the genesis of the digital revolution. With its renowned blockchain, AR/VR and gaming practices, the firm finds itself at the leading edge of the continued disruption of the entertainment ecosystem.
