Robert partners with life science companies to protect and leverage their valuable intellectual property as they grow, seek funding, and pursue exits. He advises clients in a variety of technological fields, including biologic therapies, small-molecule therapies, molecular diagnostics, synthetic biology, and drug delivery systems.

He leads the development and implementation of patent portfolio strategies that maximize the breadth and length of patent exclusivity and counsels clients in conducting patentability, invalidity, freedom-to-operate, and non-infringement analyses that minimize risk while preserving future opportunities. Robert also leads IP due diligence for licensing agreements, venture capital financings of all stages, public offerings, and M&A transactions.

Robert’s advising is bolstered by his research background, which includes a Ph.D. in biophysics from Harvard University, where he focused on the biochemistry of proteins that determine the morphology of the endoplasmic reticulum, as well as undergraduate studies at Harvard that have helped researchers design gene therapies for the treatment of genetic hearing loss. He has authored publications in respected journals including Nature and Structure.
