Fenwick corporate partner Patrick Grilli spoke with Venture Capital Journal about how shifting priorities in defense technology are influencing investor interest.
The moniker “national security” now often includes not only products sold directly to the U.S. Department of Defense, but also defense‑complementary energy products and manufacturing systems, said Grilli, who co‑leads Fenwick’s Defense Innovation & Govtech and Advanced Transportation & Robotics industry groups.
“A lot of the discussion right now is about do we have enough manufacturing capabilities in the U.S. and how do we ramp up defense production,” he told the outlet. “But generally that conversation about defense has broadened a bit among investors.”
