World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000 has awarded Fenwick “gold-tier” status nationally and in California for enforcement and litigation, and for prosecution and strategy.

Six Fenwick lawyers also earned individual recognition for their strategic guidance and litigatory prowess in California, New York, and nationally.
Eric Ball, head of Fenwick’s trademark litigation practice, ranked on WTR’s list of leading individuals in California for enforcement and litigation for his 10th consecutive time. Ball “thrives in matters requiring creative, thoughtful solutions and is adept at untangling even the most complex IP disputes with ease,” WTR said, highlighting his “business-savvy, practical mindset to enforcement.”
Connie L. Ellerbach ranked for prosecution and strategy nationally and in California. Calling her a “brilliant strategist,” WTR citied wide praise for her “deft handling of international trademark registration and conflict resolution” and that “her guidance is consistently practical and actionable, underpinned by exceptional support and deep expertise."
Kathryn J. Fritz, litigation partner emeritus, was ranked in California for enforcement and litigation and lauded for “leverag[ing] sophisticated knowledge of IP litigation, particularly in emerging technology areas, to vigorously protect clients’ brand assets.”
Mark A. Jansen, Fenwick’s industry co-lead for games, blockchain, and cryptocurrency, was ranked for New York for prosecution and strategy, and enforcement and litigation. Mark works with some of the world’s best-known tech brands to develop worldwide branding strategies, including helping his clients select, develop, expand, and protect their valuable IP assets.
Jedediah Wakefield, Fenwick’s litigation chair, ranked for enforcement and litigation nationally and in California. “He is at home guiding clients through complex disputes, never faltering when the stakes are high, and clinching wins in courts nationwide,” WTR said.
Karen A. Webb, Fenwick’s trademark practice area lead, was ranked nationally for prosecution and strategy, and she is one of just two lawyers to receive gold-tier rankings in California for both prosecution and strategy, and enforcement and litigation. Her “pragmatic and client-centric approach” has earned her a reputation for “providing timely advice and balancing aggressive protection strategies with cost-effective solutions,” WTR noted.
