Yun-Chia (Sophia) advises on intellectual property matters in the field of life sciences, hardware, software, semiconductors, internet, e-commerce and renewable energy. She counsels international high-tech clients on a variety of technology transactions matters, including assets transactions, patent, copyright and trademark licensing, as well as strategic alliances and other IP and commercial matters of corporate transactions.
Sophia also has extensive experience in biotechnology, including molecular biology, genetic engineering, genomic data mining and chemical target validation.
Prior to practicing law, Sophia was the lead of Gene Expression Technology group at Monsanto Company, where she oversaw and coordinated molecular and bioinformatic discovery for targeted gene expression, led a product development team, and supported regulatory approval, commercial product launch and strategic planning. Sophia is also a co-author of many scientific publications and co-inventor on several pending patents in the areas of genetic engineering and gene expression regulation.
Sophia is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese.
