Fenwick & West represented Skybox Imaging, Inc., creators of the world’s smallest high-resolution imaging satellite, in its recently announced acquisition by Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG), a global technology leader focused on improving the ways people connect with information, for $500 million in cash. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals in the US.
The acquisition will allow Google to help improve internet access globally as well as disaster relief efforts and to keep their maps application accurate with up-to-date imagery. More information on Skybox Imaging’s acquisition by Google can be obtained from the company press release.
