Mountain View, CA (May 24, 2017) – Fenwick & West is pleased to announce that Managing Intellectual Property has recognized trademark chair Sally Abel among the world’s top women intellectual property lawyers for the fourth consecutive year.
The Managing Intellectual Property – IP Stars Top 250 Women in IP list recognizes women IP practitioners in private practice who have performed exceptionally for their clients and firms in the past year. The women honored also earned recognition as IP Stars in their respective jurisdictions—Abel being lauded in the United States category.
Managing Intellectual Property notes that Abel has directed Fenwick’s representation of leading clients such as Cisco Systems, Symantec and Glu Mobile. Abel’s client list also boasts other industry powerhouses such as Uber, Facebook, NVIDIA and Fitbit.
“It is incredibly gratifying to work with global companies that are on the front line of innovation in technology,” Abel said. “To stay ahead of the rapid changes we’re seeing worldwide, IP professionals need to continually hone knowledge of their client’s sectors and technologies in addition to being on top of the latest in IP developments.”
Founder and chair of Fenwick’s trademark group, Abel focuses her practice on international trademark and trade name counseling, including the development and management of international trademark portfolios and trademark rights online.
For more than 25 years, Abel has been at the forefront of international trademark policy and brand enforcement and enhancement, providing innovative and strategic counseling, prosecution and policing services, including online, paperless management of international trademark portfolios, to brand name technology companies. Under Abel’s management, Fenwick’s trademark group has handled thousands of U.S. and foreign trademark applications, registrations and assignments.
In 2015, Who’s Who Legal named Abel the number one trademark lawyer in the United States. Chambers USA and Chambers Global consistently rank her among the top trademark lawyers, as does World Trademark Review 1000. She has also been recognized as an Intellectual Property Trailblazer by The National Law Journal and one of the most influential women in business by San Francisco Business Times.
The full IP Stars list of the Top 250 Women in IP is available through the IP Stars website. Managing IP compiles the list through four months of research, interviews and surveys. Only a small number make the final list, with the winners representing every major area of IP law including trademark, copyright and patent litigation, patent prosecution and trade secret litigation.
