IAM Patent 1000 Recognizes Fenwick Among Leading US Patent Firms

Fenwick’s patent group has been recommended nationally in the 2019 issue of Globe BMG’s IAM Patent 1000, a guide to the world’s leading firms and individuals in private practice.

IAM Patent 1000 recognized the firm for patent transactions nationally and in California. Additionally, the guide honored Fenwick for patent prosecution work in California and for its patent litigation practice in California, New York and Washington.

The guide also honored 22 Fenwick lawyers as leading practitioners in California, Washington and New York in the patent transactions, patent prosecution and patent litigation categories and nationally for post-grant-proceedings.

Four Fenwick lawyers—Jake Handy, David Hayes, Stuart Meyer and Jae Won Song—were also recognized in the 2019 IAM Strategy 300, which honors the world’s top individuals who lead the way in the development and implementation of world-class IP programs.

“If you were to draw a chart describing Fenwick & West’s patent practice, everything would be up and to the right; the Silicon Valley éminence gris is doing all the right things when it comes to patent strategy, transactions, litigation and post-grant proceedings,” the IAM Patent 1000 guide said, describing Fenwick’s California practice. “The firm continues to be a leader in prosecution… and is at the forefront of the development and use of sophisticated IT and AI tools to help smooth the path to protection for its following of leading innovators, which are legion.”

The guide also praised the firm’s New York patent practice, highlighting the firm’s debut in the New York rankings. Fenwick “has made impressive strides since it opened its local office in the summer of 2016,” IAM Patent 1000 said. “The continued growth of this elite Silicon Valley outfit in New York will be one of the most exciting things for legal market observers to watch in the coming year.”

Partners Jeffrey Oelke, Kevin McGann and James Trainor were each recognized as top litigators in New York by the publication. Additionally, partner Daniel Brownstone was again credited as one of the New York’s best patent prosecutors.

Fenwick’s complete United States, California, Washington and New York rankings are available through theIAM Patent 1000 website.
